I've been a bad blogger.

Hello there!
I haven't written in what feels like an age. Justification? Well i was busy "preparing" for my exams (i wasn't really) but i had no inspiration whatsoever. I only have one exam to go- German listening. Considering that I didn't even need a dictionary for the reading I think I'll be okay! :D This is not going to be a long post, i haven't bought anything worth reviewing/writing about so yeah.

HOWEVER I did go to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the day that it came out. It is amazing. As a fan of the H.P books (big fan) i think that the film did the book justice, unlike the Half Blood Prince film which was awful in my opinion.

Today I had a lazy, stay-in day as I had a day off school so I devoted my spare time to reading H.P again. It's snowed a bit, and put me off leaving the house. I must admit (to my shame) that I haven't read a book for a while, and this encouraged me to start again.

This is all i did today- painted my nails (Mystic Mauve, for any of those who are interested- supposedly a dupe for Chanel's Paradoxal) and READ READ READ.

What have you been enjoying lately? ♥

Primark & Topshop Haul

I'm absolutely loving primark at the moment. I have a love and hate relatioship with it, but as long as you look properly there is always something for everyone. They have so many cute jumpers in just now and they're comparable to Topshop or other more expensive high-end shops. I looove oversized jumpers, while I am normally a regular UK size 8, when I want something oversized I go for Size 14.

Topshop has a sale on just now, and I managed to bag some things I've been wanting to buy. The sailor skirt, I ALMOST bought about a week ago but they didn't have my size so I gave up. However my size came up in the sale ♥

In order of pictures:
* (tempted to call this acid-wash but it's not) grey oversized top from Primark £4
* Topshop navy sailor skirt (preciously £30), down to £18
* Topshop top/dress ( i will wear as a dress ) previously £12, now £8
* Primark nude pink thick woolen jumper (sooo cosy!) £11
* Primark PVC lace up pumps, cute floral interior, £8
* Primark Navy floral bodycon dress (looks so shapeless, but lovely on) £13

I also picked up some jewellery but I'll dedicate a whole new post to that ♥

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick : Pink Blush

I noticed this little gem at a special price of £3.99 at Boots the other day and decided to pick it up. The colour that I was most interested in (amongst others) was Pink Blush which is a lovely blue toned pink (kind of reminds me of the Lady Gaga lippie but slightly darker). It was nearly sold out at my local Boots so I'm chuffed I managed to pick up the second last one or so.

L-R : Swatched heavily, swatched lightly

I didn't find this lipstick either drying or moisturing. It's not matte, it's not pearly. It has some shimmer in it (can be seen in some lighting) but when on the lips the shimmer is gone. So we could say it's technically matte. It lasts quite a fair bit as well - I put it on before napping during the day and 4hrs late I woke and it was still there. Considering that I twist and turn like mad when I sleep this it pretty damn good!
The colour is wearable for the day as well as night because you can either wear it more sheer and build it up for a bold statement lip.

I think that for £3.99 you can't go wrong with this little beauty.

FOTD

Just a quick post today,I decided to keep it simple-ish today but I'm wearing more make-up than during the week so it still feels kind of special to be wearing eyeliner and highlighter and so on! I'm heading out into town with a friend for some good old retail-therapy (not so much for me because I'll only be spectating as I'm saving money for Student Nights at Topshop on the 5th and 6th of October, in case you're not aware of this click here)

FACE:

My Favorite : Rings

This is going to be a simple post, with very little writing whatsoever. The pictures will tell you the story...

Basically I want to show you my favourite rings, I absolutely adore jewelerry and I have heaps of it so selecting just a few rings was a bit of a challenge.

Left to Right : H&M, Accesorize, Topshop, Topshop, Primark, Topshop

This is probably like my most loved ring ever, it was kinda pricey tho, £30 but I do love it and I think it's alright to treat yourself sometimes ;)

The Body Shop Bronze Shimmer Waves

Hello everyone!

Boredom had kicked in, altough its Friday after an exhausting week I can never be bothered to actually go out, so I just sit at home doing nothing. I should probably start revising for my prelims but I can never focus and I get a lot of homework everyday so I never have time. They've put them forward this year which means that I'll have to do them at the beginning of November and I'm s****ing myself!

I thought I would just post swatches of The Body Shop Shimmer Waves. I got these about 2 weeks about, because I thought this was a bit subtler than using one-coloured bronzer and it has a highlight to it. It pretty much reminds me of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, that I never bought because of the whopping price (over £30, I don't think so!). This is £16, and I had a voucher and paid £11 which I thought was quite bargainous for the amout you get! I got the 01 Bronze shade, unfortunately there was only 2 shades to choose from the other one being like a mix of pinks which I didn't really like. Actually I can't say that I didn't like it, because I didn't even swatch it, but the look of it wasn't too pleasing. Anyway here's the swatches for you!

Personally I really like it, but it is a matter of personal taste. It's wearable and suitable for daily wear when you haven't got a lot of time - it's crucial for me somedays when I haven't got as much time to do my make up in the morning. They do stay on for a reasonable amount of time, what you would expect from this type of product, I only ever tried this on top of foundation and it didn't settle into pores or anything so it's a YAY for me! It's also makeup bag friendly, it's a compact, won't crack and you get bronzer highlighter and blusher! So you do get a hell of a good deal for £16... I like how these could be used as eyeshadows, I've never tried it but I reckon that they would be okay to use on eyelids.

That's it for now, but you'll probably hear from me soon!

Lancome Juicy Tubes

I have given into buying cult product - Juicy Tubes. They're pretty expensive glosses at £14 each so I was quite reluctant to make this purchase, but seeing as you get 15mls of product it isn’t too bad value (considering that you get about 5ml in Lipglasses which are about the same price). Looking it up on Debenhams' website, only 11 shades are available, however I believe that more are sold in store e.g. at Boots. They also release limited edition colours which are always lovely, however might be a bit odd sometimes - like apple green or turquoise! Still look pretty cool though...

At the moment I own 2 of these - no.19 Lychee (one of the most popular shades) and no. 26 Sans Tabou which is now discontinued, I think... Lychee is a hot pink shade with silver/blue/violet shimmer and smells of strawberry/bubblegum whereas Sans Tabou is a lilac with silver/purple shimmer, it looks pretty scary in the tube but looks lovely on the lips, it smells divine but I can’t really identify what it smells of!

They offer a lacquered effect, with shimmer which is multi-dimensional so isn't flat and boring and are okay moisture-wise but I wouldn’t say that their purpose is being moisturising. I have found that some particles of the glitter stay behind on the lips when the gloss is gone and it looks a bit tacky.

I think that these are just like any other glosses, and possibly even stickier. But what I love about them is the every Juicy Tube has a unique, fruity scent ♥

Would I repurchase? At £14 a pop, they’re not the cheapest glosses around, especially seeing as there’s nothing unique about them except the delightful, mouth watering scent but I think that there are some cheaper glosses that smell of fruit.

Loving & Hating

Im so ever utterly sorry, I have neglected you all :( I have been out on another holiday and since I got back I was mostly busy so I didn't have much time.

This post is going to be dedicated to Loves&Hates whether it's life related or beauty/fashion-wise. I think i will actually make this a regular cycle on my blog..

Loving

Lace Tights,

they add a sophisticated and fashionable touch to any, even the most simple outfit. I wore mine (exactly the same as in the photo) to a gig with a black bodycon skirt, white vest and a light denim shirt. One thing, you need to be careful and pick not a very exposing outfit otherwise you might end up a bit tarty instead of sophisticated... haaa.

Mac e/s in Carbon,
Well what can I say, it is an eyeshadow that every girl should have in her make-up collection. It is so versatile (as the name suggests, its carbon black in a matte finish) and recently, I have been using it in the corners of my eyes and along the lower-lashline instead of eyeliner.

Carmex

What a little gem this it! - Life saver! I swear that I applied this once, and my chapped lips were put in the past! So, for me this is a total re-purchase item, even though it smells a bit funny I will keep on using it because it's the best lipbalm I ever had :) I'm just waiting for winter to see it's ability to work then ...

Edinburgh
I love it so much! I could literally live there.. Me and my friend are planning a little day trip to Edinburgh soon so be prepared for some serious Edinburgh-Haul. CAN'T WAIT :D

Skins

I have been so obsessed with it, and I watched the whole Series 1 in two nights. I love the original cast and the newest generation looks kind of crappy if you ask me. Series 4 wasn't too good either and it was a HUGE disappointment. I don't really have a favourite character but I do love Chris - such a shame that he dies :( Anyone who has seen Skins but not Series 1+2 needs to do it! NOW! And I would recommend it anyone in general...

Hating

The end of Summer!
It's definitely gone far too fast, you don't notice the days go by... I'm going to be so out of place at school.

School Shopping
Since school-uniform is compulsory at my school, before going back I need to buy lots of new stuff - shirts, jumpers, tights, skirts. It's such a pain and you can never find the things that are half-decent and that you like.

New Look
Have you noticed they put their prices up and now they all have the annoying 99p ending? E.g £19,99 - I mean seriously , I don't need anymore 1p change, thanks .

Rude Men
I just can't stand it when some weirdos wolf-whistle at you and toot their horn at you. Inappropriate and also gets on my nerves so much. Is it only me?

Well i hope you enjoyed this little post and I'll be back with with some reviews and general ramble! :D

Purchases From Germany

Whenever I got to Germany, and I go there a lot there's certain things I re-purchase and things that I like to try out. If you're ever there, check out Essence (Ireland gets it but unluckily the rest of thhe UK doesn't ?!) and Manhattan. They're both really cheap brands but i love some of their products as they're real bargains! Here's the things I got on my recent trip that ARE worth mentioning! :D

^ I thought this was everything, but me being me it wasn't. Hahaha.

Back-Front :

2 Kamill handcreams- one for sensitive skin (fragrance free) and another one regular both contain camomile which makes them that bit special. I always buy these and I cannot stand any other hand cream (with Soap&Glory's Hand Food being the only exception)

2 Bebe Deodorants (yes, i buy deodorants on holiday) - these just smell so lovely like fruit and theyre also 150ml which means that they last longer than the ordinary 'Impulses' that I get in the UK. Lovelovelove them ♥ .

Manhattan Intense Moisture and Gloss lipstick in 53K (very much like Estee Lauder's Gloss Sticks) - they are moisturing, glossy lovely colour and a great smell!

2 Essence Nail Varnishes in no.27 No More Drama (lilac) and no.22 What Do You Think? (coral)

Essence L.E Shimmer Powder in no.1 The Famous Flamingo - lovely highlighter

Essence Sun Club Bronzing Powder in no.1 De-Light-Fully Delicious - not too much shimmer - nice sheen!

Essence Eyeliner Pen in Black - long lasting, easy to use - what else do you need?

2 Bebe Lipbalms - I cannot praise these enough. They smell of roses (actually.) moisture lips so good, last for ages and they're cheap. Lovelovelove ♥ - i always buy these. Kind of remind me of the Nivea ones but I like these much better (probably just childhood sentiment)

This was obviously NOT all that I got . In the next photo I included all makeup related products (including nail varnish) but I forgot the bronzing powder (however i did swatch it later!)

L-R:

Essence Nail Varnish Glitter Topper in no.04 Carrie (when tackiness takes over...)its basically just little bits of glitter in different shades of pink. I think it's quite cute but really I'm at the age when I shouldn't be into things like this. Haha.

Essence L.E Shimmer Powder (described above)

Essence L.E Glitter Eye-Pencil no.02 Undead? (from the Twilight collection, hehe)- i was looking for a glitter eyeliner and this was cheap so i just bought it.

Manhattan Intense Moisture and Gloss lipstick (described above)

Essence Volume&Gloss Lipgloss in no.04 Bubblegum, it's hot-pink gives you that tingling sensation and actually smells of bubblegum!

Manhattan Wake Up Concealer in no.01- it's like Touche Eclat in different packaging and for like 1/20 the price.

Essence Nail Varnishes (described above)

Essence Eyeliner Pen (described above)

SWATCH TIME!

L-R: Manhattan Wake-Up Concealer, Essence Shimmer Powder, Essence Volume&Gloss Lipgloss (no.04), Essence Glitter Eye Pencil, Essence Bronzing Powder (no.01), Manhattan Intense Moisture and Gloss Lipstick (53K)

And the nails varnishes. I'm sorry for the horrible nails, they're so short and in awful condition after i decided that I would be sporting fake-nails for ... 4 weeks :|

Top-Bottom:

Essence Glitter Topper no.04
•Essence Nail Varnish in no.23 'What Do You Think?'
•Essence Nail Varnish in no.27 'No More Drama'

I have to say that these stay on for so long, mine stayed on for a full week when i decided to take it off but i barely had any chips! I have also received so many compliments on 'No More Drama' and I think it's UK equivalent would be Barry M Nail Paint in no.np308 'Berry Ice Cream'. It's such a lovely summery pastel colour!

Hope all of you are having a great time! :D

MAC Purchases :)

Hiya! I'm back, refreshed and ready to live my life to the full! My holiday was lovely, even though I was only away for a week i kind of managed to do the things that I wanted to, some with a good and some with a less great outcome but hello, everyone makes their mistakes! I came back a while ago but I wasn't completely ready to start regular blogging but I feel like I can do it now so yeah, I'M HERE! :D

Sorry, got a bit sidetracked there.. since I was at Heathrow, and i was at Terminal 5, I really couldn't resist some duty-free shopping at Mac, especially seeing as there's no Mac in Aberdeen. Seriously, i have to write a petition or something because it's really getting on my nerves! I managed to keep control of what I was getting so it's not a lot, but some things that I KNOW i will use over and over again :D

L-R Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul, Lipstick in Creme Cup (Cremesheen), Studio Sculpt Foundation in NW20

Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul - it bought it to use more like a bronzer/contour. It is not as shimmery as the other Mineralize blushes they had, so i thought i would go for this one. It just had a slight illuminating sheen. It really is lovely to use as a bronzer and that's exactly what i use it as!

L/S in Creme Cup- I was going to buy the Gaga lipstick and I was gutted because they were sold out (on my way back; they were there when i was flying out *sad face*). Cremesheens are my favourites and I thought I would get a brighter lipstick for summertime as I normally stick my nudes!

Studio Sculpt Foundation (NW20)- I never tried a Mac foundation before as I heard that they break people out. Well surprise surprise, MY SKIN IS STILL SPOTLESS. I'm so pleased with this, it has a lovely gel-like constistency and different to any foundation that I tried before. However I wouldn't recommend using it on hot days, because it might just melt off. *think i'll so a detailed review on this*

L-R, Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul, Cremecup L/S.

Cremecup on the lips! :D

Hope everyone is having a great summer! On the side note the weather has been so good recently, until it started raining today. I wasnt too pleased with that!

Review: Revlon Photoready Foundation

This is not really going to be a review, more like thoughts on the foundation itself (my shade is 002 Vanilla, great match for my pale skin). It's just quite brief, I'm at work and I have some time to spare and nothing to do so I thought that I will do some very needed blogging. First of all, here's what Revlon claims:

"Revlon PhotoReady™ Makeup - For poreless, airbrushed skin in any light "

Do I agree? Certainly but I have a few doubts. It has a SPF15 filter so I don't understand how it's Photoready? Doesn't SPF make your face appear whiter (the higher the filter, the whiter you'll look)? No thanks, I don't want to look like a zombie in my photos. I have dry skin and this foundation accenturates the dry patches on my face. It's not nice, makes me look like a pastry (you know, pastries have layers and are flaky? haha, sorry just a random thought!). Also it doesn't cover all your imperfections so if there's anything major that needs full coverage - you will have to use a heavy duty concealer because i would say this is a light-medium coverage foundation. The consistency is quite runny, but no so it runs down your hand! Many people have mentioned 'The Cullen Effect'. Well frankly, it was really exaggerated, i like it because it gives my skin a glow that I don't normally have. The packaging is great, there is a pump so that makes it more hygienic and easier to use. Mess-free I would call it.The bottle is quite chunky and heavy so not really a make-up bag material. I'm quite uncertain about this foundation, I like it but I hate it because it makes my dry skin so much more visible - I'm yet to try it with a primer as I heard that it makes dry skin disappear and it looks lovely! So when I try it out with a primer I will let you ladies know! :)

PROS:

*gives a glow
*sufficient coverage
*easy application
*nice, handy packaging
*consistency

CONS :

*accenturates dry skin
*re-touching after 4-6hrs
*SPF15(i know it's a good thing, but this is supposed to be a Photoready foundation)

Would I repurchase? probably not, I always try different foundations with my problem skin (dry & big pores)

My Favourite Mascaras

I'm having a lazy time today, I'm ill :( I can barely speak and my head is killing me, but yet I decided to create this post about my favourite mascaras. It's going to be a relatively short post.

My lashes are really short and fine, i like a mascara to curl them up and give them some volume. I don't like it when a mascara gets clumpy, its just a mess. I also dislike spider-like lashes. It just looks cheap to me. For daywear, I prefer a mascara that lenghtens and gives a bit of volume to my lashes. Nothing too bold, because together with eyeliner it would be an overkill. When going out, I like statement lashes, that usually means false eyelashes to me or a few coats of mascara.

L-R : Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara, Max Factor's Masterpiece Max, Maybelline's Full 'n' Soft

Sumptuous- Long lasting, curls up my lashes and gives volume :) Brush is easy to use and it's not big nor small. However it does clump when you apply over 3 coats but seriously, does anyone actually bother?

Masterpiece Max - curls up lovely, it's quite a natural effect without clump. Makes my lashes look HUGE. Really lenghtening mascara without a lot volume but i love it for daywear.

Full 'n' Soft - This one's a bit different to the other 2, it still retains the skill of curling but it gives more volume. The brush is not the smallest I've seen, it's a bit larger than average. The price is a bonus also :)
